Centrifugal Fan Driving Modes Advantages and Disadvantages By Xianrun Blower

A Mode: Direct Driving
The impeller of centrifugal fan connects to the motor shaft directly, this is suitable for small airflow and pressure centrifugal blower
Advantage: saving the parts (such as belt pulley, belt, coupling, etc.), reliable performance.
Disadvantage: fixed speed. 
High Quality ID Fan for Ventilation
C Mode: Belt Driving
The impeller connects to motor shaft by belt pulley.
Advantage: adjustable speed, motor installation position is flexible. 
Disadvantage: Some parts are easy to break down, and need updating maintenance. 
High Temperature Fan For Metallurgical Factory
D Mode: Coupling Driving
The impeller connects to motor shaft by coupling, coupling drive centrifugal fan for high temperature, large airflow and high pressure condition. 
Advantage: stable operation, high efficiency. 
Disadvantage: fixed speed, high cost.

Driving Methods of Centrifugal Fan

Fan impeller installed on the motor shaft directly. We always called A method driving. 


The centrifugal fan works through the belt and pulley driving. This method can be divided into B, C, E method. 

(1) B Method
Belt pulley is in the middle of two bearings, and impeller is cantilever installation.

(2) C Method
Belt pulley is installed cantileveredly at one end of bearing, while fan impeller is installed cantileveredly at another end of bearing.   

(3) E Method
Belt pulley is installed cantileveredly, while fan impeller is installed in the middle of two bearing. 


The centrifugal fan works though the coupling drive. 

(1) D Method
The motor connects with one end of coupling shaft, fan impeller connects with another end of coupling shaft. Motor drive bearing, bearing drive coupling shaft, coupling shaft drive fan impeller. 

(2) F Method
Centrifugal fan has bearing on both sides.
