Centrifugal Blower Selection Principle by Xianrun Blower

How to select a suitable blower to you?  By Xianrun Blower

1. Selecting high efficiency, small size, large adjusting range centrifugal fans, meet acceptable performance, efficiency and quality requirements;

2. The centrifugal blower working point need to be near efficiency running point, to ensure the stable operation, avoid the fan works in surge area;

3. Reducing noise by decreasing the centrifugal fan speed and selecting bigger size blower;

4. If selecting oversize blower, the blower will works in small air volume area, pressure difference is big between air inlet and outlet, causing operation instability and high impulsive noise;

5. If selecting undersize blower, the fan will increase rotation speed, the air will have higher speed after leaving the blades, also causing higher noise;

6. In general, the average wind speed in fan air outlet is at 10 ~ 15 m/s, can not be more than 17 m/s;

7. The fan speed is less than 450 RPM, selecting 8 poles motor; 451 ~ 799 RPM, selecting 6 poles motor; 800 ~ 1500 RPM, selecting 4 poles motors; more than 1500 RPM, selecting 2 poles motors.

Notes during the centrifugal fan operation

1. If the air flow is too big to conform to the requirements, or need smaller flow in a short period of time, all these can be adjusted by throttling gear. 

2. Check the thermometer and oil sensitivity regularly, and control bearing box oil level within allowable scope. 

3. Check immediately for any abnormal phenomenon during the centrifugal fan running or stop. 

4. For the small fault, find out the reason, try to eliminate or processing in time; if the small fault can not be eliminated, or find out big failure, should be checked immediately.

5. Lubricating oil should be changed after repairing, and lubricating oil also should be changed regularly. 

6. Check bearing pedestal of E mode driving regularly (quarterly), cleaning and adding lubricating oil, in case of bearing burning out.

How to maintain high temperature smoke exhaust fan and prolong service life?


High temperature smoke exhaust fans are widely used in ventilation system. The below are several maintenance methods.

1. Adding lubricating grease regularly, from zerk fitting by fuel truck nozzle. You can open the oil discharge outlet under motor cover to discharge waste oil. 
If there is oil starvation in the bearings, please check out the reason firstly, and add oil at any time. 

2. High temperature smoke exhaust fan starts to run at least once a month, so as to have good motor bearing lubrication. 

3. It is better to check attachment bolt regularly. Once the loose, spring washers have to be changed and fasten again.

4. Checking fan running situation at fixed period, if there are any friction, loose and strenuous vibration,then check out the problems carefully and remove the obstacle. 

5. Inspecting the bearing of the high temperature smoke exhaust fan. Toggle the impeller, listen whether there are any sounds of bearing's looseness and friction, then  remove the trouble.

Fan impeller installed on the motor shaft directly. We always called A method driving. 


The centrifugal fan works through the belt and pulley driving. This method can be divided into B, C, E method. 

(1) B Method
Belt pulley is in the middle of two bearings, and impeller is cantilever installation.

(2) C Method
Belt pulley is installed cantileveredly at one end of bearing, while fan impeller is installed cantileveredly at another end of bearing.   

(3) E Method
Belt pulley is installed cantileveredly, while fan impeller is installed in the middle of two bearing. 


The centrifugal fan works though the coupling drive. 

(1) D Method
The motor connects with one end of coupling shaft, fan impeller connects with another end of coupling shaft. Motor drive bearing, bearing drive coupling shaft, coupling shaft drive fan impeller. 

(2) F Method
Centrifugal fan has bearing on both sides.
